Chill at home: Electric Dreams on Amazon Prime
January 17, 2018
When it’s chilly outside, relaxing in your beautiful and comfy apartment at The Pierce is the best! Amazon Prime has really become a force to be reckoned with as far as TV productions go. Here’s an exciting new series worth checking out. Electric Dreams is based on Philip K. Dick’s sci-fi short stories from the 1950s. His books and stories have inspired many movies including Blade Runner, Minority Report, Total Recall, A Scanner Darkly, The Adjustment Bureau and more. Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston is one of the executive producers and stars in one of the episodes of Electric Dreams. This is one of his pet projects. When “Walter White” likes something, you know it has to be pretty darn good. You’ll also find familiar actors from HBO’s Westworld, AMC’s Humans and AMC’s Preacher in other episodes. So the casts are top shelf. Electric Dreams offers compelling stories with beautiful cinematography, deep psychological meaning, and of course, cool futuristic special effects. This is intense storytelling with lots to consider. It’s a real thinking person’s show. It viscerally explores philosophy, ethics, politics, humanity, impact of artificial intelligence and technology, and social norms. Just what does the future hold for us? There’s only one way to find out. Electric Dreams is available on Amazon Prime TV. Also, we recommend the original 1982 version of Blade Runner if you’ve never seen it. It’s a visual delight and there’s some powerhouse acting by Rutger Hauer, Joanna Cassidy and newcomer Sean Young. FYI: the Rob Zombie song “More Human Than Human” is inspired by this movie.
